Battambang is a secret haven in Cambodia for vegan eaters! There are plenty of options in the city from divine vegan pizza to social enterprise cafes with several plant-based options. Here’s where to eat vegan food in Battambang.
BATTAMBANG SOCIAL ENTERPRISE CAFES
JAAN BAI
Jaan Bai (GoogleMaps) gorgeous eatery is operated in conjunction with the Cambodian Children’s Trust (CCT) and the Feel Good Coffee Group. The social enterprise restaurant provides job opportunities to CCT students as well as skill training. Profits from Jaan Bai are then are channeled back into the charity. Jaan Bai means rice bowl in Khmer but the restaurant offers so much more. I came back again and again for the delicious vegan bao and the mushroom and eggplant dumplings. They also have a fantastic selection of craft cocktails. Be sure to scope out the gorgeous street art murals on the side of the building!
KINYEI
Kinyei Café (GoogleMaps) is another social enterprise in Battambang that supports Khmer youth. The training cafe and community space is also supported by Feel Good Coffee. Kinyei has a vegan coconut milk lattes with excellent fair trade coffee beans that are chemical-free and organic.
BATTAMBANG VEGAN EATERIES
BOLAI TIL I DIE
Bonlai Til I Die (GoogleMaps) makes the best vegan pizza I’ve ever had — hands down. Complete with vegan cheese and a ridiculous amount of options of toppings even meat eaters love this pie. They also offer vegan pasta and salads that have vegan cheese as well. I had one pizza with pesto and mushroom and another with chickpeas and herbs. The vegan Cesar salad was massive and so authentic. Just look at these pictures and drool.
MONOROM GARDEN
Monorom Garden (GoogleMaps) is a simple local veggie spot. The afternoon buffet is pay-by-the-weight and very affordable. I have no idea what I ate, all I know is that it was very tasty!
